In cooperation with VU Amsterdam, the Rijksmuseum will organize a symposium about the transformation process in South Africa and the Netherlands on the 5th of April 2017, featuring influential speakers. The symposium is held to accompany the exhibition Good Hope of the Rijksmuseum. While the exhibition looks back on the emotive history between South Africa and the Netherlands, the symposium looks forward: what can both countries learn from each other regarding the new generation?
Several influential speakers from both South Africa (e.g. Antjie Krog) and the Netherlands (e.g. Adriaan van Dis) have been invited for this symposium and they will all give their vision on the future of the new generation. Students will also give their ideas and thoughts about this topic in a panel discussion.
