Amsterdam Centre for the Study of Lived Religion

In the Amsterdam Centre for the Study of Lived Religion (practical) theologians, social scientists, and ethicists investigate moral and religious practices of individuals and (faith) communities. The research program is organized around three areas: cultures, communities, and care. The area of cultures boasts for example a research project on virtual religion with lecturers and students looking at developments in online and mediatized religion. In the area of communities researchers study among other things church renewal. The area of care contains for example a project on trauma and spirituality.

Research network
The Amsterdam Center for the Study of Lived Religion hosts the NWO funded international research network ‘Transforming Religious Identities and Communities at the Intersection of the Rural, Urban, and Virtual'. Linking with eleven research groups from six countries, the researchers collaborate on project themes like religious diversity, religious leadership, and sustainable communities.
