INaSEC: Institute For Academic Study of Eastern Christianity
INaSEC is conceived as an international academic platform for high-quality inter-and multidisciplinary research and reflection on Eastern Orthodoxy in Europe.
INaSEC is affiliated with the Faculty of Theology and with the VISOR (VU Institute for the Study of Religion, Culture and Society) at the VU University, Amsterdam.
INaSEC about the name
While pronouncing this abbreviation, think of “within a second” or “no sooner said than done” and keep in mind the opposite. This explains the small “a” in the name.
When we present themes like “INaSEC about the Orthodox vision on eternity” we are stressing through the name that the issues cannot be solved in a blink of the eye. Thus, the name and the logo complement each other.
Mission statement
INaSEC combines academic neutrality and impassioned engagement with Orthodox religious and cultural heritage. Anticipating on the future socio- and geopolitical developments, INaSEC offers a platform for an open and profound reflection on the past and present of Orthodoxy in specific European contexts.
