201104 Marianne MoyaertVU professor Marianne Moyaert (Comparative Theology and Hermeneutics of Interreligious Dialogue) will use this Vidi grant for the research titled Unequal Partners? Christian-Jewish and Christian-Muslim Couples in The Netherlands.

Confrontation with Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism
Jewish and Muslim minorities in The Netherlands are confronted with Islamophobia and Antisemitism while (secularized) Christian privileges prevail. Moyaert: “This project explores and compares how Christian-Muslim and Christian-Jewish couples handle this disparity. We focus on material and ritual practices like circumcision, baptism, Christmas and Hanukkah, as these fundamental practices often reveal unequal power relations.”

Vidi financing
The Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) has awarded 81 experienced researchers a Vidi grant of 800,000 euros. This will enable them to develop their own innovative line of research and set up a research group for the next five years.
