Overall research area: Developing a Christian theology in the context of Islam.

It is the intention to start a series of books on theological themes that are important in the context of islam and PhD projects might be included in this series. Themes include the fields of:

  • Theological interpretation of Islam
  • Christian responses to Islam (between demonization and syncretism)
  • Reading the Bible in the context of Islam
  • Crucial issues in the encounter of Christianity and Islam, like:
    • missiological themes,
    • themes related to violence,
    • Christians as minorities (dhimmy’s) in the context of Islam,
    • Biblical theological contributions to developments in the Middle East,
    • Martyrdom.
  • the Church in the context of Islam
  • The cross and the sword
  • Power or minority
  • Persecution and suffering
